Spot a Spree boat

Find a tour boat or barge on the Spree river running through central Berlin. Photograph it passing the Berliner Dom or the Reichstag.

Spot a Trabant car

Find a Trabant (the East German two-stroke car) parked or on a Trabi Safari tour. Photograph the plastic body in any colour.

Spot a U-Bahn in Hamburg

Find a blue U-Bahn sign at a Hamburg Metro entrance. Photograph the U.

Find a blue U-Bahn sign at any Munich Metro entrance. Photograph the sign.

Spot a Viktualienmarkt stall

Walk to the Viktualienmarkt food market and find a stall with sausages, cheeses, fruit or a maypole. Photograph the stall.

Spot a Weißwurst plate

Find a plate of Weißwurst (Munich white veal sausage) with sweet mustard and a pretzel, usually a morning food. Photograph the pale sausage.

Spot a Würst Imbiss

Find a Würst Imbiss (sausage stand) selling bratwurst or currywurst. Photograph the cart.

Spot a yellow Berlin tram

Find a yellow BVG tram running through Mitte or the eastern districts (West Berlin lost most of its trams after WWII). Photograph one in motion.

Spot an Augustiner beer mat

Find an Augustiner beer mat, coaster or umbrella outside a Bavarian pub. (Augustiner is the unofficial Munich beer.) Photograph the green logo.

Spot an East Side Gallery mural

Walk to the East Side Gallery and find a famous mural (the Brezhnev-Honecker kiss, the Trabant breaking through). Photograph one of the painted panels.

Walk to the Englischer Garten and find the surfers on the Eisbach standing wave. Photograph one mid-ride.

Find a Berliner Pilsner glass, coaster or umbrella outside a Kneipe. Photograph the blue-and-white logo.

Different from a tag, find a piece of street art with a recognisable figure (a Blu mural, a Banksy-like stencil, a wheatpaste). Photograph it.

Find a view of BMW Welt or the BMW Tower (the four cylinders). Photograph the steel curves.

Spot Lederhosen or Dirndl

Find someone in Lederhosen (leather shorts) or a Dirndl (traditional dress), or a Trachten shop window. Photograph the outfit.

Spot Mauerpark karaoke or guitar

Walk into Mauerpark on a Sunday for the open-air karaoke or flea market, or any day for the buskers. Photograph the crowd or a guitar player.

Spot Olympic Park tent roof

Find the tent-like roof of the Olympic Park (Munich 1972) over the stadium and swimming hall. Photograph the swooping membrane.

Spot the Alster lake

Find a view of the Inner or Outer Alster lake. Photograph the boats, swans or fountains on the lake.
