[Customize!] The city or campus fact
A question or task about your own city or program. (Intro committee: come up with a question or photo task, for example "What year was this university founded?" or "Photo at the oldest building on campus", with the answer.)
Advice from an upperclassman
Find an older student and ask for the best tip for your first year. Take a photo together and write down the tip.
Ask a local for directions
Politely ask a passerby for directions to a well-known spot in the city. Record a short video of the moment they point you the way.
Find your match
Find two people in your group who share something surprising: same birthday month, same shoe size, same hometown. Take a photo of the match with a note saying what they share.
Intro crew group photo
Final challenge: one group photo with your whole intro group after a day out together. Everyone in it, with the group name if you have one.
Recreate a statue
Find a statue or sculpture in the city and recreate its pose exactly with your group. Take a photo of your version next to the statue.
Selfie with the mentor
Take a group photo with your intro mentor or guide. Everyone in it, the mentor in the middle.
Spot a student society
Find something from a study or student society: a flag, a sticker, a stand, a poster. Take a group photo with it.
Student transport formation
Take a photo of the whole group on bikes, at the bus stop or on the tram: the real student transport of your city.
Terrace introductions
Settle in with your group on a terrace for a first drink together. Take a photo of the whole group at the table.
The best student snack
Find the tastiest or most typical student snack nearby (a sandwich, fries, a kebab, a toastie) and take a group photo with it.
The campus icon
Find the best-known building or landmark of your campus or program and take a group photo there.
The cheapest coffee
Find the cheapest coffee or soft drink you can get nearby. Take a photo of the price tag or the menu with the price on it.
The group name reveal
Come up with a group name for intro week. Write it big and legible and take a photo of the whole group holding up the name.
The intro chant
Come up with a short chant or a few-line song for your group. Record a video of all of you performing it together.
The intro conga line
Form a conga line with your group and make a lap down the street or across the square, hands on the shoulders of the person in front of you. Record a video of it.
The name sprint
Stand in a circle. Each person in turn says their name plus the names of everyone who has gone before, getting faster each time. Record a video of the round until the last person has to recite every name.
