Foodie Scavenger Hunt
A culinary scavenger hunt for any city. Hunt for local dishes, visit markets, raid bakeries, find the best coffee. Works for a weekend trip in your home city or abroad. The [Customize!] slot is for organizers who already know which local dish is a must-try.
Challenges (15)
First bite of the day
Photograph the very first bite or sip you take today. The kickoff of your foodie tour.
Market tour
Find a local market or covered market hall. Take a photo that captures the bustle, the colors and the stalls.
Bakery or patisserie
Visit a bakery or patisserie. Photograph the display case and pick up something to take with you. Photo of the treat in hand.
Specialty coffee
Find a coffee shop that locals consider exceptional. Photograph the cup from above, with the latte art if there is any.
Street food shot
Find a street food stand or food truck and order something. Photograph the dish in hand, on the street.
A dish whose name you do not know
Order a dish whose name you do not recognize. Photograph the menu entry and write down what it turned out to be.
Open kitchen
Find a restaurant or stall where you can watch the kitchen at work (open kitchen, market grill, simmering pot in a window). Photograph the cooking moment.
Local and colorful
Find a dish that stands out for its color (bright green, deep orange, purple, a wild mix). Photo from above so the color pops.
A drink from the region
Order a drink that is local or regional (a local beer, a regional wine, a specific aperitif). Photograph the glass and write down the name.
The cosiest terrace
Find the terrace that breathes the most atmosphere. Photograph the table with your food and drinks on it, from your seat.
Photo with the chef
Ask a chef, cook or stall vendor if you can take a photo with them. A shot together behind the counter, in the kitchen or at the stall.
Sweet finale
End an eating moment with a dessert you have not tried before. Photograph it from above.
Empty plates final shot
Final challenge: a photo of your table at the end of the day, just empty plates, crumbs and a satisfied feeling.
Quiz: Saffron dish
Which famous Spanish dish is known for its yellow color from saffron, with rice as the base?
Answers: paella / paëlla
[Customize!] Local specialty
Find and eat a dish that is specifically tied to the city or region you are in. (Organizers: name the dish and ideally a recommended spot.)
