School Trip Scavenger Hunt
Turn a school trip into an active scavenger hunt for small groups of pupils. Works at any destination: theme park, zoo, museum, outdoor centre. With team photos, jump challenges and short interviews. One [Customize!] challenge is for the teacher to fill in the destination-specific question.
Challenges (18)
Bus selfie kick-off
The kick-off! Take a team selfie on the bus (or the car, the train, whatever it is) on the way to the destination. Everyone ready for the adventure.
Arrived!
First team photo at the entrance or by the sign of the destination. Everyone in the photo, the sign clearly in view.
Spot an animal
Spot an animal today (real, drawn, a statue or a stuffed one) and take a team photo with it. The most unusual animal earns extra points.
Dress-up dash on the trip
Find something to dress up with along the way: a hat, a scarf, a silly cap, a mask from the souvenir shop. Take a team photo with the whole group dressed up.
Highest point of the day
Find the highest point you are allowed to stand on today: a viewing tower, a hill, a grandstand, the top of a ride. Take a team photo with the view.
Snack break
Time for a snack. Take a photo of the whole team with your snacks or drinks. The more chaos on the table, the better.
Team jump shot
Everyone in the air at the same time. One photo, all of you off the ground. Keep trying until it works.
Nicest spot
Find the nicest spot of the destination with your team and take a group photo there. Everyone gets a say in what counts as nicest.
Strange object
Come across something that looks a little odd (a weird sign, a strange decoration, an unexplainable object). Take a team photo with it.
Souvenir photo
Take a photo of something you would want to take home today: a leaf, a pebble, something from the souvenir shop, a funny sticker.
Interview on the spot
Ask someone who works at the destination (or another visitor) what their favourite spot is. Take a quick photo together and write down the answer.
Sound challenge
Record a short video of a strange or funny sound you hear today: a sound effect, a roller-coaster scream, an animal noise, something that only happens at this place.
Team human pyramid
Build a human pyramid of two levels with your team (or more if you dare). Photo of the moment just before it collapses.
Backwards pose
A team photo where everyone stands with their back to the camera. No faces, but clearly still you.
Biggest laugh photo
The biggest laugh of the day. All at once, mouth wide open, eyes scrunched up.
Final photo by the bus
Closing challenge: back at the bus (or the exit). One big team photo with all the tiredness and all the fun of the day in it.
Quiz: Number of continents
How many continents are there on Earth?
Answers: 7 / seven
[Customize!] Question about the destination
A question specifically about the place you are today. (Teacher/organizer: come up with a question about this location, e.g. "How many roller coasters does this park have?" or "What year did this museum open?", and add the answer.)
